Description
Marshmallow Root is the root of Common Holly or Althaea officinalis which is closely related to the better known Mallow. The root is harvested when the plant is at least 2 years old. Harvesting is best done in the fall when most of the contents are present in the root.

Usage of Holly Root
The best way to use holly root is through a cold macerate (so the mucilage is better preserved):
- In proportion 30g to 6 dl of water.
- Allow to infuse for 8 hours.
- Pouring off/sifting.
- 3 bags per day.
Best not to make an infusion of it with boiling water because the useful nutrients will be lost.
