From books to herbs

My name is Robin, and my path to In Praise of Herbs did not take the traditional route, but through … books. For years I worked in the academic library world, surrounded by knowledge and science. But somewhere it kept itching – my love for herbs grew, until I realized that I really wanted to do something with them.

When ‘In Praise of Herbs sought an acquirer in late 2023, it felt like a sign. As a regular customer, I already knew the shop and its philosophy well. Founder Marc Pierloot had laid a solid foundation: 100% organic herbs, a focus on quality and strong ties with reliable growers and suppliers. Rather than reinventing the hot water, I decided to build on what he had built – with my own touches here and there.

Not an anonymous web store, but a personal touch

I run ‘In Praise of Herbs as a sole proprietorship, with the support of a small team that helps with packaging herbs, taking care of social media and website management.

Direct contact with customers is very important to me. Do you have a question about an herb? Then you’ll get an answer from myself, not from a chatbot. Is an order wrong? Then I solve it personally.

With In Praise of Herbs, I want to create a place where herb lovers can order with peace of mind, knowing that they are bringing in pure, quality products.
