Description
Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) is a dried flower bud of the clove tree and is best known for its intense, long-lasting flavor and special shape. The flower buds are picked as soon as they begin to turn pink and before the petals are visible. These buds are then dried; they turn brown and become very hard. You can buy cloves whole or ground. The whole version retains their aroma longer than ground.
Fact: did you know that dentists use a derivative of cloves for pre-anesthetic ? Just ask.
