Description
Tulsi, Ocimum tenuiflorum or Holy Basil is one of the holiest plants of India and certainly not to be confused and compared with the basil we know better from Mediterranean cuisine. This green leafy plant has a long history within Indian medicine as a treatment for many conditions, from eye diseases to digestive problems. The nutritional value of Tulsi is also certainly not to be underestimated as it contains vitamins A and C, calcium, zinc, iron and chlorophyll, among others. More recent research shows that this is an ideal herb for stress and tension.
Traditionally, Tulsi was planted around temples because it was believed to not only cleanse the body but also purify the soul.
