Preparing straw flower tea organic

Making a tea (or infusion) is an ideal way to benefit from the beneficial effects of organic strawflower.
So you can easily prepare a cup of healthy straw flower tea organic:

  1. Bring water to a boil. Heat the desired amount of water in a kettle or on the stove to boiling point.
  2. Place the dried straw flowers in a teapot or mug. Use about 1-2 teaspoons of dried flowers per cup of tea.
  3. Pour the boiling water over the straw flowers. Carefully pour the boiling water into the teapot or mug so that the flowers are completely submerged.
  4. Allow the tea to steep. Soak the straw flowers in the hot water for about 5-10 minutes. This gives the active compounds and flavorings time to be released into the water.
  5. Strain the tea. Use a fine sieve or tea strainer to remove the flowers from the tea as you pour the tea into a cup or teapot. This ensures that you get a clear infusion without flour residue.

Serve and enjoy. Your strawflower tea is now ready to be served! You can choose to add some honey or lemon juice to enhance the flavor, if you like.

Straw flower tea has a mild, floral flavor and can be drunk hot or cold. Experiment with the amount of flowers and infusion time to achieve the desired strength and flavor.

Making strawflower oil organic

Making oil from Helichrysum italicum, also known as immortelle or strawflower, can be done through a process called maceration. Here is a general recipe for making Helichrysum oil:

Supplies

  • Dried Straw Flower Flowers.
  • Vegetable oil (such as olive oil, jojoba oil or almond oil).
  • Glass jar with lid.
  • Fine sieve or cheesecloth.
  • Dark glass bottle for storage.

Instructions

  1. Place dried straw flowers in a glass jar and cover completely with the vegetable oil of your choice. Make sure the oil is of good quality and suitable for use on the skin.
  2. Close the glass jar tightly with the lid and shake the mixture gently to mix the flowers and oil.
  3. Place the glass jar on a sunny windowsill or in a warm place. Allow the mixture to macerate for about 4-6 weeks. During this period, the essential oils of the flowers will be slowly absorbed into the oil.
  4. Shake the jar frequently during the maceration period to mix the mixture.
  5. After the maceration period, strain the oil through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to separate the flowers from the oil. Squeeze the mixture gently to get all the oil out.
  6. Pour the strained Strawflower Oil into a dark glass bottle for storage. Dark glass protects the oil from light and helps maintain quality.

Store Strawflower Oil in a cool, dark place. It is advisable to place a label on the bottle with the date of production and contents.

Note that the oil obtained by maceration is an infusion of the plant and may be less concentrated than essential oil obtained by steam distillation. However, it still has the potential to contain some of the beneficial properties of Helichrysum italicum.
