Description
Saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world and is used in many cuisines in the Middle East, India and Europe.
It takes as many as 150 flowers of the saffron crocus to obtain 1 gram of saffron threads. It is also a rare flower; there are few places in the world where the flowers can grow well. Our saffron is grown organically in Iran, where climatic conditions are optimal to achieve high quality.
Saffron threads are found in the pistil of the saffron crocus(Crocus Saticus Linneaus). The threads have a trumpet-like shape and beautiful blood red color. The unique taste of saffron is best described as earthy, honey-like with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
