Description

Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) has been one of the main ingredients in herbal medicine since ancient times. The scientific name, Urtica dioica, comes from the Latin word uro, meaning “to burn,” because the leaves can cause a temporary burning sensation on contact. However, once nettle is processed into a supplement, dried (nettle tea) or cooked, nettle can be safely consumed. Nettle leaves are very rich in nutrients and are often used as a spring cleanser, among other things

How to easily prepare a cup of healthy nettle tea organic:

  • Measure the amount: Use 1 teaspoon of dried nettle leaves per cup of tea.
  • Bring water to a boil: Use about 200 ml of water per cup.
  • Prepare the tea: pour the boiling water over the nettle leaves and steep for 5-10 minutes, depending on the desired strength.
  • Strain and serve: Remove the leaves and enjoy the hot tea.
  • Optional: add a sweetener: Honey or maple syrup can soften the somewhat grassy taste.

Note that nettle tea can have a somewhat grassy and earthy taste. You can also mix it with other herbs or teas to adjust the taste to your preference.
