Ground elder (Aegopodium podagraria) is a perennial plant that gets its name from its feathery leaves, usually consisting of 5 to 7 leaflets. Ground elder grows in many places, you can find the plant in shaded roadsides, hedges, gardens, ditches field edges, … on moist nutrient-rich soil. The herb contains numerous vitamins and minerals, such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, silica, vitamins A, C and E. Ground elder was used in folk medicine against rheumatism and gout.
