Description
Ashwagandha root is an important herb in Ayurvedic medicine, used for thousands of years to relieve stress, increase energy and improve concentration. The name “Ashwagandha” comes from Sanskrit and means “smell of the horse,” referring to the herb’s fragrance and its ability to promote strength and vitality. Its botanical name is Withania somnifera and it is also known by several other names, including “winter cherry” and “Indian ginseng. Make no mistake, however, Ashwagandha is certainly not as stimulating as the well-known Panax Ginseng, on the contrary. Rather, ashwagandha has a calming effect and can be used during extended periods without danger of overstimulation.
