Description
Alantroot, also known as elfroot, helenie, or alantweed, is the root of the plant Inula helenium, an herbaceous plant in the family Asteraceae. Native to Europe and Asia, this plant has been valued for centuries for its powerful medicinal properties. The medicinal parts of alant are the rhizome and lateral roots, which are harvested from two- to three-year-old plants in the fall.
