Description
Green Tea ATAY BENAANAA is The Classic Moroccan Mint Tea
This Green Tea ATAY BENAANAA of Green Tea and Herb Mint is actually a “quick-fix” version of traditional Moroccan Mint Tea = a heartwarming, refreshing blend of Gunpowder and Nanamint.
For your information: In Morocco, putting Atay Benaanaa is quite a ritual. First, Chinese green tea (Special Gun Powder), which is the base of mint tea, is put into a metal teapot. The tea is washed with some boiling water. After the water is drained, the sugar and fresh mint leaves go into the pot. Then the boiling water is poured on top. Then some fresh tea leaves are added. The tea should then boil for another 5 minutes.
The first glass of tea from the pot, is poured back into the pot so that all the flavors are well mixed. Then the glasses are filled, preferably from as high as possible so that there is a layer of foam on the tea. Moreover, the high pouring of tea is a symbol of hospitality. This is done especially when there are visitors, because the higher the more hospitable.

Mijn grote favoriet van jullie is toch wel deze Marokkaanse groene thee. Eigenlijk net zo lekker als de originele traditiethee van mijn Marokkaanse collega 🙂
